CONSUMER WARRANTY SUPPORT

Red Duck Knives stands behind the quality of its products and handles consumer warranty claims directly through its Service Department.

Consumers who purchase an eligible Red Duck Knives product directly from Red Duck Knives or from an authorized Red Duck Knives retailer may submit a warranty claim directly to Red Duck Knives.

Retailers may refer consumers to Red Duck Knives for warranty evaluation and assistance.

The complete terms of the Red Duck Knives Limited Lifetime Warranty are set out below.

1. LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY

Red Duck Knives warrants eligible Red Duck Knives-branded products against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for the lifetime of the original consumer purchaser, subject to the terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions stated in this warranty.

For purposes of this warranty, “lifetime” means the lifetime of the original consumer purchaser for as long as that purchaser owns the product.

This warranty is not transferable.

2. PRODUCTS COVERED

Subject to the complete terms of this warranty, coverage applies to eligible Red Duck Knives-branded products, including:

  • Folding knives;
  • Fixed-blade knives;
  • Automatic knives;
  • Axes;
  • Hatchets;
  • Tracker knives;
  • Eligible self-defense tools; and
  • Other Red Duck Knives-branded products expressly identified as covered by this warranty.

A product must have been purchased by the original consumer purchaser:

  • Directly from Red Duck Knives; or
  • From an authorized Red Duck Knives retailer.

Certain products, accessories, promotional items, closeout products, or specially identified products may be subject to a different written warranty stated with the applicable product.

3. WHAT THIS WARRANTY COVERS

This warranty covers a defect in materials or workmanship that causes a covered product to fail during normal use for its intended purpose.

A covered manufacturing defect may include a defect involving a product’s:

  • Materials;
  • Assembly;
  • Construction;
  • Mechanism;
  • Fasteners;
  • Handle attachment;
  • Locking mechanism;
  • Button or operating mechanism; or
  • Other component,

when Red Duck Knives determines that the condition resulted from defective materials or workmanship rather than normal wear, misuse, damage, alteration, or another excluded cause.

The age of a product alone does not exclude an otherwise covered defect in materials or workmanship.

4. WARRANTY REMEDY

If Red Duck Knives determines that a product contains a defect covered by this warranty, Red Duck Knives will, at its option:

  1. Replace the defective product with the same model when reasonably available; or
  2. Replace the product with a reasonably comparable Red Duck Knives product when the original model is unavailable or discontinued.

Red Duck Knives generally replaces covered products rather than repairing them.

If Red Duck Knives determines that a reasonably comparable replacement is unavailable, Red Duck Knives may provide a Red Duck Knives credit equal to the original product’s documented manufacturer’s suggested retail price (“MSRP”) or another remedy agreed to by Red Duck Knives and the consumer.

Any remedy required by applicable law remains available notwithstanding this Section.

5. PROOF OF PURCHASE

Red Duck Knives may request reasonable evidence establishing that the claimant is the original consumer purchaser and that the product was purchased directly from Red Duck Knives or from an authorized Red Duck Knives retailer.

A purchase receipt is the preferred form of proof of purchase.

If a receipt is unavailable, Red Duck Knives may consider other reasonably reliable evidence of the original purchase.

Consumers may also contact the retailer where the product was purchased to determine whether a copy of the purchase record is available.

The absence of the original receipt does not automatically disqualify a claim when the original purchase can be reasonably verified by another method acceptable to Red Duck Knives.

6. NORMAL USE

This warranty applies only to defects occurring during normal use of the product for the function for which it was designed.

Examples include using:

  • A knife for ordinary cutting functions appropriate to the knife;
  • An axe or hatchet for appropriate chopping functions; and
  • Another covered tool for the ordinary purpose for which that tool was designed.

The fact that a product was used does not by itself eliminate warranty coverage.

7. CONDITIONS NOT COVERED

This warranty does not cover damage, failure, deterioration, or loss caused by or resulting from:

  • Misuse;
  • Abuse;
  • Neglect;
  • Improper maintenance;
  • Improper storage;
  • Improper sharpening;
  • Unauthorized repair;
  • Unauthorized modification;
  • Material alteration;
  • Improper disassembly or reassembly;
  • Impact or excessive force unrelated to ordinary intended use;
  • Prying, twisting, hammering, throwing, or similar use when the product was not designed for that function;
  • Exposure to corrosive substances or conditions;
  • Accidental damage;
  • Loss;
  • Theft; or
  • Use inconsistent with the product’s intended function.

An excluded act or condition affects warranty coverage only to the extent it caused or materially contributed to the claimed damage or failure.

8. NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR

Normal wear resulting from ordinary product use is not a defect in materials or workmanship and is not covered by this warranty.

Examples of normal wear may include:

  • Blade dulling;
  • Minor blade or handle scratches;
  • Finish wear;
  • Surface discoloration caused by normal use or environmental exposure;
  • Cosmetic changes;
  • Ordinary wear to coatings;
  • Ordinary wear to moving components;
  • Gradual loosening or wear resulting from extended use; and
  • Other deterioration reasonably expected from ordinary use over time.

A component that fails because of a covered defect in materials or workmanship is not excluded solely because the component is normally subject to wear.

9. BLADE AND TIP DAMAGE

Blade or tip damage is not covered when caused by normal wear, misuse, impact, improper sharpening, prying, twisting, striking, or another use for which the product was not designed.

Examples may include:

  • Ordinary dulling;
  • Edge rolling;
  • Chipping caused by impact or misuse;
  • Bent tips caused by prying or lateral force;
  • Broken tips caused by misuse; and
  • Blade damage caused by improper sharpening.

A blade or tip failure resulting from a verified defect in materials or workmanship remains eligible for warranty consideration.

10. RUST, STAINING, AND CORROSION

Rust, staining, spotting, discoloration, or corrosion caused by environmental exposure, moisture, chemicals, improper storage, inadequate maintenance, or ordinary use is generally not covered.

A claim involving corrosion or surface deterioration may be considered when Red Duck Knives determines that the condition resulted from an otherwise covered defect in materials or workmanship.

Consumers should follow the applicable product care instructions to help protect their products from corrosion and deterioration.

11. NATURAL AND VARIABLE HANDLE MATERIALS

Some Red Duck Knives products contain natural or environmentally responsive materials, including:

  • Wood;
  • Bone;
  • Antler;
  • Horn;
  • Resin;
  • Rubber;
  • Plastics; and
  • Similar materials.

These materials may naturally expand, contract, shrink, discolor, develop minor surface checking, or otherwise change in appearance because of:

  • Moisture;
  • Humidity;
  • Temperature;
  • Sunlight;
  • Age; or
  • Environmental conditions.

Natural changes or deterioration caused by those conditions are not defects in materials or workmanship.

For the first 30 days after the original purchase date, Red Duck Knives will also evaluate significant cracking, separation, or similar handle-material conditions to determine whether the condition existed at the time of sale or resulted from defective materials or workmanship.

After 30 days, ordinary environmental or age-related changes in these materials are not covered.

This 30-day provision does not eliminate coverage for an otherwise verified manufacturing defect that becomes apparent later.

12. LOCKS, BUTTONS, AND MECHANICAL COMPONENTS

Locks, buttons, springs, pivots, and other moving components may experience normal wear during extended use.

Normal wear, gradual loosening, or deterioration resulting from ordinary use is not covered.

However, a lock, button, spring, pivot, or other mechanical component that fails due to a verified defect in materials or workmanship remains eligible for warranty consideration, regardless of when the failure occurs.

13. LOST OR MISSING COMPONENTS

The warranty generally does not cover components that have been lost or removed after purchase, including items such as:

  • Thumb studs;
  • Screws;
  • Clips;
  • Fasteners; or
  • Other detachable components.

Red Duck Knives may, at its discretion, assist with replacement components when available.

Such assistance does not extend this Limited Lifetime Warranty.

14. LEATHER SHEATHS

Leather is a natural material and may change in appearance, flexibility, fit, color, or condition through ordinary use and environmental exposure.

Manufacturing defects in a Red Duck Knives-supplied leather sheath identified within 30 days of the original purchase date may be submitted for warranty evaluation.

After 30 days, ordinary wear, stretching, discoloration, scratching, moisture damage, cracking, or deterioration of leather sheaths is not covered.

Nothing in this Section excludes a right or remedy that applicable law does not permit Red Duck Knives to exclude.

15. PRODUCT ALTERATIONS

Modification of a product does not automatically eliminate every warranty right.

However, this warranty does not cover a defect, failure, or damage caused by or materially resulting from:

  • Modification;
  • Alteration;
  • Unauthorized repair;
  • Regrinding;
  • Drilling;
  • Engraving affecting Product function;
  • Modification of a locking or opening mechanism;
  • Removal or alteration of a safety component; or
  • Improper disassembly or reassembly.

Red Duck Knives may decline to service or replace a product when an alteration prevents a reliable evaluation of the claimed defect or creates an unreasonable safety risk.

16. AUTOMATIC AND REGULATED PRODUCTS

Automatic knives and certain other products may be subject to federal, state, local, tribal, carrier, or shipping restrictions.

Warranty coverage does not authorize a shipment, possession, transfer, or transaction prohibited by applicable law.

Before instructing a consumer to ship a regulated product, Red Duck Knives may require information reasonably necessary to determine whether the proposed shipment and return are lawful.

Red Duck Knives may use another lawful method to evaluate or resolve a claim when shipping the product would be prohibited or materially restricted.

17. HOW TO START A WARRANTY CLAIM

Consumers should contact the Red Duck Knives Service Department before shipping a product.

Initial contact allows Red Duck Knives to:

  • Review the reported issue;
  • Determine whether additional information or photographs may be sufficient;
  • Identify obvious warranty exclusions;
  • Provide shipping instructions when necessary;
  • Address regulated-product shipping concerns; and
  • Help avoid unnecessary shipping expense.

Consumers should not ship a product until they have reviewed the applicable warranty-submission instructions.

18. INFORMATION TO PROVIDE

When requesting warranty assistance, the consumer should provide, when reasonably available:

  • Consumer’s full name;
  • Mailing address;
  • Daytime telephone number;
  • Email address;
  • Product description or model;
  • Proof of purchase or other available purchase information;
  • Description of the claimed defect;
  • Explanation of how and when the problem occurred;
  • Photographs if requested; and
  • Other information reasonably necessary to evaluate the claim.

Red Duck Knives may request additional information reasonably necessary to determine whether the claim is covered.

19. SHIPPING A PRODUCT TO RED DUCK KNIVES

When Red Duck Knives determines that physical inspection is appropriate, the consumer is responsible for shipping the product to the Red Duck Knives Service Department unless Red Duck Knives agrees otherwise or applicable law requires another arrangement.

Products should be shipped prepaid and appropriately insured.

Red Duck Knives is not responsible for a package that is lost, stolen, or damaged before Red Duck Knives receives it, except to the extent applicable law provides otherwise.

Consumers should retain tracking and shipping records.

20. SAFE PACKAGING

Products must be packaged safely and securely.

Knives and other edged tools should be secured so that:

  • The blade cannot move freely within the package;
  • The blade cannot penetrate the shipping container;
  • The product cannot create an unreasonable risk to carrier or Red Duck Knives personnel; and
  • The product is protected from shipping damage.

A durable shipping box should be used.

Consumers should not ship an exposed or unsecured blade.

Consumers should avoid:

  • Padded envelopes when they do not adequately secure the product;
  • Loose packing materials that permit movement;
  • Inadequate containers; and
  • Packaging that could allow a blade or sharp component to penetrate the package.

Original retail packaging should generally not be included unless Red Duck Knives specifically requests it or it is necessary to evaluate the claim.

21. SENTIMENTAL OR PERSONAL ITEMS

Consumers should remove any accessories or personal items that are not necessary for evaluating the warranty claim.

If a product or component has sentimental value, the consumer should clearly state that fact before sending the product.

Red Duck Knives will make a reasonable good-faith effort to preserve and return sentimental items when reasonably possible.

However, products approved for replacement may not always be returned because they may need to be retained for inspection, testing, quality review, regulatory purposes, or disposition.

Important: Consumers who require the return of a particular product, regardless of the warranty determination, should discuss that request with the Service Department before shipping.

22. RETURN SHIPPING

If Red Duck Knives determines that a claim is covered by this warranty, Red Duck Knives will pay the reasonable cost of shipping the approved replacement product to the consumer within the United States, unless another arrangement is required by applicable law or agreed to in writing.

If Red Duck Knives determines that the submitted product is not covered by this warranty, it may require the consumer to pay reasonable return shipping charges before the product is returned.

Red Duck Knives will advise the consumer of material return shipping charges before returning an uncovered product, when reasonably practical.

23. WARRANTY CLAIM DETERMINATION

Red Duck Knives will evaluate warranty claims reasonably and in good faith based on:

  • Product condition;
  • Nature of the reported failure;
  • Product age;
  • Available purchase information;
  • Evidence of misuse or alteration;
  • Normal wear;
  • Product design and intended use;
  • Inspection findings; and
  • Other relevant facts.

A product’s age alone does not determine whether a manufacturing defect is covered.

Red Duck Knives may deny a claim when the available evidence reasonably establishes that the claimed condition is excluded by this warranty.

24. NO OTHER PERFORMANCE GUARANTEE

This warranty concerns the physical condition and manufacturing quality of covered Red Duck Knives products.

It does not guarantee:

  • Product suitability for every use;
  • Compliance with every customer’s intended use;
  • Product legality in every jurisdiction;
  • Retail value;
  • Resale value;
  • Availability of a particular replacement model; or
  • Any commercial or business result.

25. LIMITATION OF REMEDIES

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the remedies stated in this Limited Lifetime Warranty are the consumer’s remedies under this written warranty.

Nothing in this warranty excludes, restricts, or limits:

  • A right or remedy that applicable law does not permit Red Duck Knives to exclude, restrict, or limit;
  • Liability that cannot lawfully be disclaimed or limited;
  • Rights arising from an applicable product recall or corrective action; or
  • Other nonwaivable consumer rights.

26. STATE AND OTHER LEGAL RIGHTS

This Limited Lifetime Warranty gives the consumer specific legal rights.

The consumer may also have other rights that vary from state to state or jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

Some states or jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty limitations, exclusions, or limitations of remedies. In those jurisdictions, a limitation or exclusion in this warranty applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in this warranty is intended to waive or reduce consumer rights or remedies that applicable law does not permit Red Duck Knives to waive or reduce.

27. COMPLETE WRITTEN WARRANTY

This document states the complete terms of the Red Duck Knives Limited Lifetime Warranty unless a product is accompanied by a separate written warranty that expressly states different terms.

No retailer, salesperson, distributor, employee, representative, or other person may orally:

  • Expand;
  • Modify;
  • Restrict;
  • Waive; or
  • Create

a Red Duck Knives warranty or remedy.

An authorized written amendment or product-specific written warranty may modify these terms only with respect to the product or circumstance it expressly addresses.

28. WARRANTY AVAILABILITY

Red Duck Knives makes this written warranty available to consumers for review before purchase as required by applicable law.

Authorized Red Duck Knives retailers may provide consumers with access to this warranty through an authorized printed copy, electronic version, QR code, website access (redduckknives.com), or another lawful method provided by Red Duck Knives.

Consumers may request a copy of the current applicable warranty from Red Duck Knives.
